Bruce L. Moran, 63, of Aledo, passed away Friday, September 23, 2016, at his home in Aledo.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, at Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Joy, IL. A time of food and fellowship will follow the service at the Joy Fire Station.

Bruce was born December 30, 1952 in Aledo, Illinois and raised in Joy, Illinois, the son of Gilbert Moran and Audrey Gilmore Moran Bryant.

He attended Westmer High School and later the University of Illinois with a Masters Degree in Public Health. He had worked for General Electric prior to retirement.

He was a talented athlete and a member of both the basketball and track teams. After raising his family in Michigan and later Ohio, he returned to live in Illinois for the remainder of his life.

Bruce shared a love for golfing with his father and could be found on the course during most of his free time. His children also enjoyed learning to golf from their father as well as having fond childhood memories of family camping trips, coaching sports teams, leading cub scouts, and many travel adventures.

He leaves behind his two beloved children, Nate Moran of North Canton, OH, and Stephanie Tsapakis and her husband Yianni Tsapakis of San Antonio, TX; his dedicated mother, Audrey Bryant of Joy, IL; sister, Pam Retherford and her husband Mike of Joy, IL; step-mother, Joan Moran; half-brother, Mike Moran and his wife Mindy; half-sister, Karen Moran; two granddaughters, Rosemary Moran and Willow Moran; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, his father, one brother, his step-father, aunts and uncles.
