Obituary for Leonard Getson

Leonard Roger Van Getson, 75, of East Moline, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline.
Private family graveside services will be held. Visitation will be 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Monday, July 20, at Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Aledo. Burial will be in the Saint John’s Cemetery in Viola.

He was born December 25, 1939, in Rock Island, IL, the son of Edward Joseph and Victoria Schrack Van Getson. He married Phyllis Joann Williams on December 30, 1961, in Aledo, IL. They raised their children in Aledo, IL.
He worked at John Deere Harvester Works for 30 years, retiring in 1995. After retirement, Leonard ran his own lawn care business as well as working at a local car wash. In his spare time, he loved taking his dogs, DJ and Tinkerbell for car rides. He was a lifelong St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Leonard leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Phyllis JoAnn, as well as his son, Vince of Centralia, IL; daughter, Denise of East Moline; son, Brett (Bridget) of Davenport; son John; his six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren (with another on the way); his two brothers, George of Milan and Edward of Woodhull, IL; and two sisters, Barbara Loving of Aledo and Delores Lulow of Garden Grave, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved dogs, DJ and Tinkerbell.
