William J. Bewley, 71, of Aledo, passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas, NV.

Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 20, at First Baptist Church, Aledo. Burial will be in the Aledo Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 19, at Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Aledo.

William Joseph Bewley was born January 7, 1946, in Aledo, IL, the son of Jesse and Velma Mosley Bewley. He married Arlene Richardson on May 3, 1986, in Aledo.

Bill was a graduate of the Mortuary Science Program at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg.

He was an Illinois licensed funeral director and embalmer and established Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Aledo in 2003, and opened a second location in Joy, IL in 2013.

He enjoyed shoe repair, country dancing, as a spectator, playing Bingo in Las Vegas and raccoon hunting in his younger years.

He was former vice president of the Mercer County Senior Center, member of the First Baptist Church, Aledo Masonic Lodge No. 252, the Mercer County Family YMCA, National Funeral Directors Association, Illinois Funeral Directors Association and the Mississippi Valley Funeral Directors Association.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Arlene; sons, Jeff (Debbi) Bewley of Sandwich, IL and Jim Bewley of Aledo; five grandchildren, Jesse Bewley, Mikey Bewley, Jake Bewley, Maggie Bewley and Melissa Mitchell; and four great grandchildren, Izayah, Ryatt, Cash, Livia; sister, Joyce (William) McKinley, Mesa, Arizona; brother, Daryl (Mary) Bewley of Aledo; sister-in-law, Patsy Bewley, Aledo.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard, Robert, Jerry and Charles.
