Alois Dean Dekeyrel

Alois Dean DeKeyrel, 78, of Alexis, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021, at home surrounded by his family.

Memorial services for both Dean and Mary will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 19, at Nichols Bewley Funeral and Cremation Services. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, November 18, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Spring of 2022 at the Norwood Cemetery.

COVID-19 protocols will be observed for all gatherings. Masks are required.

Alois Dean DeKeyrel was born February 28, 1943, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Alois and Ella Verlea McCormick DeKeyrel. He married Mary K. Archer on November 26, 1966, in Milan, Illinois.

Dean was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Viet Nam War. He was a past member of VFW Post #2301 in Monmouth, Illinois. He was an Electrician and worked for John Deere Co. until retirement.

Dean loved going to the casinos, gambling, traveling and playing cards.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his children, Tom DeKeyrel of Alexis, IL, Helena DeKeyrel Posey of North Henderson, IL and Paul (Kayla) DeKeyrel of Fulton, IL; grandchildren, Aiesha DeKeyrel, Unique Posey and Charles Posey; three great grandchildren; brothers, James (Marilyn) DeKeyrel of Illinois City, IL, Danny (Cathy) DeKeyrel of Burlington, IA, and Joseph (Roxanne) DeKeyrel of Illinois City; sisters, Virginia Brady of Illinois City, IL and Betsy (John) Kincaid of Davenport, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary on October 18, 2021; and two brothers-in-law, Carl Brady and Steven Goodnight; sister-in-law, Margaret Hill and son-in-law, Charles Posey.
