Barbara Josephine Dellitt, 71, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, formerly of Aledo, passed away peacefully Tues. Aug. 20, 2013, in Mount Vernon, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Aledo. Interment will be at Aledo Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 pm Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Aledo. The V.F.W. Post #1571 Ladies Auxillary will have a service at 7:30 pm. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
She was born Sept. 13, 1941, in Peoria, the daughter of Willis Y. and Frances Josephine Powers Toellen. She married James W. Dellitt. They were later divorced. She owned Barb’s Beauty Nook in Aledo and had previously been employed as an instructor for Celewhan Beauty School and as bookkeeper for Dellitt Trucking.
She enjoyed racing horses, camping, fishing, playing cards and word games. She was a Cardinals baseball fan.
Those left to honor her memory include her significant other of more than 20 years, Bill Roseboom of Mount Vernon, Illinois; her son and his fiance, Jeffrey W. Dellitt and Shelly Sager of Bettendorf, Iowa; her daughter Rebecca J. Middleton and husband, Jeffrey of Le Claire, Iowa; three grandchildren, Jared Dellitt of Des Moines, Iowa, Dylan Bergen of Brooklyn, New York, and Leighton Huch of Chicago, Illinois; and two sisters, Paula Ryan and Mary Pat Rush and her husband Allen “Whitey”, all of Aledo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Michael Toellen in 1992.
