Betty Schrader Bohling,77, of Sacramento, Calif., formerly of Muscatine, went to join her husband in Heaven on September. 15, 2013, in California. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, October. 19, 2013, at Greenwood Cemetery. Honoring her wishes there will be no visitation. Jeffrey S. Memorials in Betty’s name may be made to Mercy Hospice, Sacramento or Grandview Community Bible Church, which she was a member. Betty was an active member of the National Rifle Association, Air Force Sergeants Association and the “I” Club. Betty was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. Betty was born February 1, 1936, near Oakville, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Alice Miller Schrader. She married James Bohling on August 29, 1953, in Grandview. He preceded her in death on October 2, 1981. She traveled with her husband in the U.S. Air Force for more than 20 years. She was very active in the Air Force Base activities, holding various offices in a number of clubs for the U.S. Air Force wives. Betty did a lot of volunteer work on the bases, where they were stationed, and in the communities in which they lived. Upon her husband’s retirement from the Air Force, she worked alongside her husband on farms they purchased while still on active duty in the U.S. Air Force. When Jim left her to be with the Lord, Betty moved back to Iowa to be near their families. She enjoyed both families so much and felt very blessed to have them. Survivors include son, Jack (Nel) Bohling, Rancho Cordova, Calif.; daughter, Becky Bohling, Davenport; seven grandchildren, Lark (Chris) Hall, Citrus Heights, Calif., Amanda Dahms and Wesley, Rock Island, Jim (Amanda) Dahms, Davenport, Jack Beavers, Davenport; one great-granddaughter, Chloe Hall, Citrus Heights; brother, Larry Schrader, Mediapolis, Iowa; special sister-in-law, Mary Schrader, Marshalltown, Iowa. Also surviving are Linnie Bohling, Connie Bohling and Cal Bohling, Muscatine, Lena Schrader, Columbus Junction, Iowa, wonderful friend, Margaret Weber, cousin of her husband; special friend, Juanita Bridges, Muscatine; special nieces, Jan Birkhofer, Connie Clark and Diane Tachera; special nephew, Steven Schrader; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by parents; husband; parents; grandson, Matt Bohling; two special brothers, Max Schrader and Jack Schrader; brother, Kenneth (Bud) Schrader; sister, Joyce Suesens; special in-laws, Donna Schrader, Alice Peters and Mary Anna Wilson; in-laws, Helen Bohling, Bob Bohling, John Bohling, Ines Cross, Frances Pelton; mother and father-in-law and Donald Rex Bohling.
