Glenn C. Shoppa, 82, of Letts, died Friday, March 26, 2010, at Lutheran Homes in Muscatine. He was born April 24, 1927, in Muscatine, the son of Clarence Chester and Nellie Edna Miller Shoppa. He married Sophia Marrian Nicewanner on November 11, 1951, in Iowa City. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He served as a machinist’s mate aboard the USS Moale. He had worked as a truck driver for Ribstone Silos and was a supervisor at Bandag prior to retirement. He loved his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing and auto racing. He was always looking for a bargain. He loved to buy and resell a wide range of items. Those who will honor his memory include his son, Gary and wife Cheri of Columbus Jct.; daughters, Sandra Kiene of Letts and Laurie Crook and husband John of Muscatine; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one sister, Patricia Steahr of Muscatine. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1970, one son Richard, one daughter Glenna, three brothers John and Paul, and Jerry in infancy, and one sister Mary in infancy and a special friend Donna Yerington. © 2010 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
