Judy Ann Warren, a beacon of joy and kindness, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024, in her hometown of Muscatine, IA at the age of 74. She was born Saturday, April 15, 1950, also in Muscatine, the daughter of George F. and Erma I. Newton Butler. She married Jim W. Warren at the Sweetland United Methodist Church on Friday, August 3, 1990. Judy's life was a testament to the love and laughter she shared generously with all who knew her.
Judy's journey began in Muscatine, where she grew up surrounded by the warmth of her family and friends. Her life was filled with the simple pleasures of baking, making candy, working puzzles, coloring, and watching NASCAR. She had a special love for cars, cherishing her 1956 Chevy and 1991 Firebird, and enjoyed the thrill of the West Liberty Races every Saturday night with her beloved father. Judy's passion for life extended to the outdoors, where she found joy in road hunting for pheasants with her father. And yes Barb, you too.
Her professional life was as rich and varied as her personal interests. Judy's first job was at Johnny's Bar & Grill in Muscatine, where she earned enough to buy her first car, a milestone she fondly remembered. She also worked at Maid-Rite and the Cheri Top during her teenage years. Judy's career path led her to the Holiday Inn, where she served as a Banquet Manager for 19 years, a role she absolutely loved. Her final professional chapter was at the West Side Store, where she worked alongside her daughter Lisa, sister Barb, and nephew Matthew. Judy retired after 20 years of service, leaving behind a legacy of friendships and warm memories.
Judy's life was a tapestry woven with the threads of family and friendship. She was the beloved wife of Jim Warren of Muscatine, and a devoted mother to her daughters, Lisa (Brett Kranz) Chase of Muscatine and Angela (Bill) Fye of Fairfax. Her love multiplied as she became a grandmother to Danielle Chase and Austin (Lucy Waid) Taylor; and a step-grandmother to Ashely (Mike Peterson) Chase, Elizabeth Fye, Devon Fye, and Jennifer Kranz. Judy's heart swelled with pride for her step-great grandchildren, Michaela and Autumn Chase, Charlotte, Ambrose, and Frankie. Her sisters, Barbara (Jim) Qualls and Susan (Myron) Adams, both of Muscatine, shared in the joys and sorrows of life with her, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Judy's infectious laughter and thoughtful nature made her a friend to many. Her friendly demeanor was a constant source of comfort and happiness to those around her. She was preceded in death by her parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, brothers Richard McKelup and Jimmie Butler, and cousin, Jean Hudson. Yet, her spirit of generosity and love continues to live on through the lives she touched.
Judy Ann Warren's life was a celebration of the bonds that tie us together as family, friends, and community. She will be remembered as the funny, thoughtful, and friendly soul who could light up a room with her presence and who always had a hug ready for anyone in need. Judy's legacy of warmth and affection will be cherished and carried forward by those who were fortunate enough to know her. As we bid farewell to Judy, we hold tight to the memories and the laughter, knowing that her spirit will forever be a guiding light in the lives of her loved ones.
