Roy E. Ford, 83, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 4, 2009, from Lutheran Homes. There will be no visitation or local services. His body was cremated per his wishes and graveside services will be held at Mt. Albion Cemetery on the Ford family plot in New York State at a later date. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a former member of Grace Lutheran Church 1954-1970. He was born August 23, 1925, in Kent, N.Y. the son of W. Roy and Lillian Scharping Ford. He married Doris C. Stanton on July 10, 1948, in Medina, N.Y. He was a WWII veteran and served three years with the United States Army 13th Armored Division in France and Germany. He was a sergeant and received the Bronze Star and Infantry Badge. His agricultural occupation started in New York and took him to Ohio, Iowa and California. He later became a real estate broker, auctioneer and appraiser. He opened his own office: R.E. Ford Company, Inc. in Stockton, CA 1974-1990. He was president of the California State Auctioneers Association 1980. He held a private pilot’s license and enjoyed his own Gruman Tiger plane. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, Kaaba Shrine, Davenport 32nd degree Mason, Iowa Lodge No.2 AF and AM, Elks Lodge No.304, Scottish Rite in California, lifetime member of V.F.W., honorary member of F.F.A., and other various organizations. Roy was an achiever and leader in all his endeavors. He is survived by his wife, Doris of 61 years, two daughters, Cindy Ford and Yvonne (Bill) Simmons both of Austin, TX.; one granddaughter Jodi Simmons (Lee) Cardenas of Austin, TX; and a great grandson, Evan Lee Cardenas of Austin, TX; two brothers, Arnold and Henry, both of Kent, NY; one sister, Velma Boyce of Sumter, SC; sister-in-law, Marie Budnik of Rochester, NY; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruby, and a grandson, Keith Andrew Simmons in infancy.
