William H. Hoffman, Sr., 86, of Moline, formerly of Aledo, passed away Friday, March. 9, 2018, at Rosewood Care Center in Moline.


Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. Wednesday., March. 14, at Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Aledo. Burial will be in the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery.

Bill was born October 26, 1931, in Moline, IL, the son of Roger William and Dorothy Kathern Leisure Hoffman. He married Delores Mae Waldron on November 15, 1952. They were divorced in 1978. He later married Marilyn JoAnn Arrington on February 16, 1980, in Moline, IL. She preceded him in death March 22, 2015.


He was a United States Marine Corps veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a welder and tool pre-setter with John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline, where he worked from 1963 to June 1, 1985, a member of UAW Local No. 865 in East Moline.


He was a member of the Viola Masonic Lodge No. 577 A.F. & A.M. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Lodge Master in 2002 and 2003.


Those left to honor and cherish his memory include sons, William H. Hoffman, Jr., Daniel L. Hoffman of Orion; daughter, Kathleen Heim of Rock Island; grandchildren, Melissa (Matt) Otis, Brian (Jen) Mc Cluskey, Kyle Hoffman and Emily Hoffman; six great grandchildren; brother, Charles Fiser of Rock Island; sisters, Margaret Jane Kaskadden of Moline, Marilyn Brown of Moline, and Sharon Mee of Moline; step-children, Cindy (Denny) Mechling of Buda, Guy (Lisa) Morris of Monmouth, Mitch Morris of Buda, Ronnie (Karla) Morris of Des Moines, IA and Peggy Morris of Rock Island; and numerous step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, second wife and one brother, Thomas J. Hoffman.
