Bettie L. Monts, 93, of Aledo, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo.
Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Aledo. A time of dessert and fellowship will follow at the church. Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Aledo, is caring for Bettie’s family and services.

She was born June 14, 1924, in Aledo, IL, the daughter of Harold E. and Myrtle F. Davison Fender. She married Richard Monts on February 9, 1947, in Aledo, IL.
Bettie was best known for her famous pies. She had also owned and operated several restaurants including Viola Café and Progress Lounge in Aledo. She also baked pies for the Viola Sale Barn; and every week for the Farmer’s Market.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. In her free time she enjoyed embroidery and was a past 4-H Leader.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Janice (Bob Moore) Harmon of Aledo; grandchildren, Tara (Justin) Hoftender of Aledo and Brian (Kristy) Esp of Moline; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Edward) Schrock of Seaton, Donna (Jack) Bonynge of Sarasota, FL, Paula Denton of Galesburg, IL and Sandra (George) Marek of Westerfield, MA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, brother and sister-in-law Howard and Rachel Fender.
