Dannie E. Miller, of Rock Island, formerly of Reynolds, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the age of 76, at Unity Point Trinity – Rock Island.

Dannie Eugene Miller was born on Thursday, January 22, 1948, in Quincy, IL, the son of Donald Wayne and Cora Lee Van Atta Miller. He married Kathy I. Gilbert on Sunday, December 23, 1973, in Joy, IL. He lived a life marked by dedication to his family, a strong work ethic, and a love for the great outdoors.

Dannie spent 35 years as a forklift driver at John Deere. His colleagues respected him for his professionalism and his willingness to lend a helping hand whenever needed. Dannie also worked mowing lawns, fixing lawn mowers in his garage and had farmed part-time. Dannie's commitment to his work was paralleled only by his devotion to his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; daughters, Tina (Daniel) Shehorn of Joy, IL, Angela Miller of Aledo, IL, Danette (Josh Dolan) Miller of Clinton, IA, Amanda Hofmann of Joy, IL, Natasha (Daniel) Miller of Moline, IL, and Brenda (Jack) Gardner of Cedartown, GA. Dannie was a proud grandfather to Britni Shehorn, April Shehorn, Austin Gordon, McKinley Gordon, Preston Hofmann, Emilee Baker, Cobin Hofmann, Kylee Gordon, Dawson Hofmann, Amelia Baker, Destiny Miller, Breonna Gaines, Rodney Miller, Jr., Tiffany Gantt, Tamika Bewley and Zachery Bewley, Brandon Hedger, Jessie Ann Huston, Jazmyn Gaines, Andrea Kemp; and his goddaughter, Jeannie Marlow. He was a doting great-grandfather to his many great-grandchildren; and best buddies with his dog Bandit. His legacy continues through each of them, as they carry forward his values and zest for life.

Dannie's surviving siblings, Sharon Mefford, David (Trina) Miller, Jimmy (Judy) Miller, Pamala Wonders, Bruce (Sharon) Miller, William (Billy) Miller, Micheal (Kelly) Miller, Ariana "Jody" (Sam) Newton, Lisa (Ed) Smith, and Joseph (Tammy) Miller; and his numerous nieces and nephews will remember him for his strength, and humor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Rodney Eugene Miller; his grandson Jesse; and his great-grandson Luke; who both hold a special place in the family's memories; and siblings, Madaline Julie MeGee, Connie Mackey, Donald Wayne Miller, Jr., Steven Douglas Miller, and Johnny Miller.

An avid outdoorsman, Dannie found solace and joy in camping, boating, hunting, and fishing. His hands were rarely still, as he was always working on a car or fixing something around the house. His handiness was a trait admired by all who knew him.

As we say goodbye to Dannie, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life filled with love, hard work, and treasured moments. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who loved him, and his spirit will continue to inspire us all. Dannie's story is one of a life that exemplified the values of family, friendship, and the simple joys of life.

Dannie's life will be honored with a celebration to be announced at a later date, where his loved ones will gather to share memories and celebrate the man who meant so much to so many. His memory will be cherished forever, and his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
