Duane E. Adams

Duane E. Adams, 72, of Matherville, Ill., died Wednesday, June13, 2007, at Genesis Medical Center Illini Campus, Silvis.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at the Bewley Funeral Home. There will be no visitation. 103 S. W. Third St., Aledo. Burial will be in Farlow Grove Cemetery in Matherville. Memorials may be made to the Boden Community Church or Illini Hospital Foundation.

He was born July 15, 1934, in Matherville, the son of Thomas C. and Gertrude K. Smith Adams. He married Sharon M. Moore on March 19, 1955, in New Windsor, Ill.

He retired from Kone, Inc., formerly Montgomery Elevator, on July 15, 1996, following 40 years of employment. He was a member of the Boden Community Church. Duane enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren. He was a board member and actively involved in his church. He was a former Mercer County Board Member.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; sons, Monte and wife Jean Ann Adams of Matherville, Bryan and the late Angie Adams of Atlanta, Georgia, Brent and wife Linda Adams of Davison, Michigan, and Rod and wife Donna Adams of Preemption; daughters Cassie Herman and husband Michael of Sherrard, and Nancy McMeekan and husband Chuck of Aledo; grandchildren, Angie Martens, Jason Adams, Tommy Adams, Eric Herman, Shawn Herman, Seth Adams, Chad McMeekan, Abigail Adams, Megan McMeekan, Matthew Adams and Bradley McMeekan; great-grandchildren, Austin Herman, Chase Martens and Madison Martens; brothers, Tom and wife Cindy Adams of Matherville, Kenneth and wife Pam Adams of Matherville; sister, Jean Hultgren and husband Bob of San Antonio, Texas, twin sister Delores Douglas and husband Roy of Geneseo; sisters-in-law, Carlene Adams and Mary Adams both of Viola. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Jim and Robert.
