Elmer Lloyd Lilly, Sr., 81, of Viola died Friday, January 20, 2012 at Mercer County Hospital, Aledo, IL.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bewley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Aledo. Visitation is 4 - 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial is in the New Boston Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Elmer Lilly Memorial Fund.
Elmer was born August 30, 1930 in Unionville, Iowa, the son of Alva and Gladys Houdeshell Lilly. He married Deanon Tompkins on April 3, 1950 in Aledo.
He operated heavy equipment for Watts landfill and also worked for Sears Manufacturing prior to retiring.
Elmer enjoyed fishing, tinkering with small engines and playing cards and dice games.
Survivors (and spouses) include his wife, Deanon; children, Jesse (Linda) Tompkins, Viola, Gary (Marcia) Lilly, Midlothian, IL, Elmer (Denise) Lilly, Jr., Andover, Ron Lilly and Mary Daniels, both of Viola, Laura (Bill) Anderson, Aledo; sister, Virginia Livingston, Chadwick, IL; 20 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Martha "Janey" Mayfield; 4 brothers and sisters-in-law; one sister and brother-in-law and 2 sons-in-law.
