Erma Irene Butler, 82 of Muscatine, died Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at Bickford Cottage.
She was born January 31, 1922, at Lone Tree, Iowa, the daughter of Clyde Albert and Marie Johanna Christofferson Newton. She married George F. Butler April 24, 1946, at the Musserville United Methodist Church in Muscatine.
She retired in 1991 following 17 years in food service at West Middle School. She was most recently a homemaker.
She loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed yard sale-ing, Dennis the Menace comics, collecting teddy bears, go-cart racing and softball and attended many games when she was able.
Those left to honor her memory include three daughters, Barbara Qualls and husband Jim, Judy Warren and husband Jim, Susan Adams and husband Myron, all of Muscatine; six grandchildren Debbie Swift and husband Jason, Brad Qualls and wife Beth, Lisa Chase, Angie Taylor, Matthew Adams and Meagan Adams; seven great grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren; one brother Frank Newton Sr. of Muscatine; one sister Betty Petty of Fairport; and a special life-long friend Helen Nichols.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1973, two sons, Jimmie in infancy in 1952 and Richard in 1954, one brother Bobby and two sisters, Leona and Della.
