Gary L. Erickson, 87, of Muscatine, passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at home surrounded by his family.

Gary was born Sunday, June 26, 1938, in Muscatine, IA the son of Allvar R. and Pearl M. Holzhauer Erickson. He married Lola Y. Dunbar on Friday, September 25, 1959, in Muscatine. Gary lived a life rich in love and purpose. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who will be missed by all who knew him.

Gary dedicated much of his professional life to his vocation as a draftsman in the engineering industry, contributing his talents at Stanley Consultants. He was respected by his colleagues and found joy in the challenges of his work. Beyond his career, Gary embraced a wealth of passions. He found solace and joy in nurturing animals, particularly through breeding and showing rabbits, and raising horses. He had a penchant for music, with a special fondness for the timeless sounds of Elvis, Johnny Cash, and The Statler Brothers. His love for nature was evident in his vibrant garden, where he took pride in growing beautiful gladiolas and giant cannas. Gary was a man of many interests, enjoying rock and mineral shows, flea markets, and a deep appreciation for old books.

Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Lola Erickson; his children, Debra K. Maida, Daniel A. (Ximena) Erickson, and Michael S. Erickson; and his cherished grandchildren, Nicolas Maida, Stephanie Maida, Joel (Simran) Maida, and Emilia Erickson; brother-in-law, Harlan Orr; aunt Marilyn Erickson, cousins, Dale (LaRaleyn) and Dean Goddard; niece, Cindy (Larry) Garner; cousins Latty Lee Erickson, Donald Ager, Steven Erickson, Ann Erickson, and his beloved furbaby, Katie. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire his family and friends.
