George Bridger

George W. Bridger, 79, of New Boston, IL, passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf, IA.

Graveside services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, at the New Boston Cemetery. Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Aledo, is caring for the arrangements.

George was born June 2, 1936, in New Boston, IL, the son of Howard Fleming and Pearl Katherine Anderson Bridger. He married Evelyn Selser. They were later divorced. She still survives in Galesburg. He married Beatrice June Davis on March 13, 1976, in Norwood, IL.

He was a United States Army veteran having served from 1959 to 1961.

George had worked as a welder for Case-IH for 30 years retiring in Dec. 1992. He was a member of the UAW Local No. 1304 in East Moline. He loved gardening, reading and taking long walks.

Those left to honor his memory include, his wife, June of Aledo; sons, James W. Bridger and William H. Bridger, both of Galesburg; seven step-children, Ron of Rock Island, Jeff of Bettendorf, Joe (Nancy) of Illinois City, Wayne (Cindy) of Davenport, Bonnie of Texas, Dave of Illinois, Bruce of Texas; brother, John of Viola; and sister Roberta of Aledo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Howard and three sisters, Virginia, Marion and Lorraine.
