Gregg D. Thirtyacre

Gregg D. Thirtyacre. 67, of Aledo, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Allure of Knox County in Galesburg, Illinois.

Gregg was born July 31, 1957, in Aledo, Illinois, the son of Ellis Boyd and Mildred Carlson Thirtyacre. He graduated from Winola High School in 1975, and attended Scott Community College in Davenport, Iowa. He married Julie Bailey in June, 1987. They were later divorced.

Gregg proudly served in the United States Navy from 1978 to 1981. He worked as a mechanic for many local businesses including Salens Beverage, Don Hamilton, Kent Feeds, Case, Crop Production Services and Nutrien Ag Solutions.

He enjoyed growing up and working with the Ryan family of Viola. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, old Westerns, and watching movies. He also enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Eric; his grandchildren, Aubrey, Silas and Dane Thirtyacre, all of Joy, Illinois; siblings, Greta (John) Hughes of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Marvin (Janine) Thirtyacre of Viola, Illinois; sister-in-law, Loretta Thirtyacre of Galesburg, Illinois; brother-in-law, Bill Coutant of Aledo, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Donnie, Rick, Rodney and Darrell Thirtyacre and Susan Coutant.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to an education fund set up for Gregg's grandchildren or to the Mercer County VFW Post No. 1571.

Cremation rites are being accorded. A celebration of Gregg's life will be announced at a later date. Nichols Bewley Funeral and Cremation Services is caring for Gregg's family and arrangements.
