Jerry Bowlyou

Jerry Lynn “Lynnie” Bowlyou, 69, of Aledo, IL, passed away at home on Monday, August 31, 2015, at his home.

Lynnie was born March 12, 1946, in La Harpe, IL, to Charles and Helen Bowlyou. He graduated from Aledo High School in 1965, and married Linda Sue Fickel on July 5, 1969, in Fort Madison, IA, and settled in Aledo, IL, to raise their family. He’s been the owner and operator of the Aledo Tastee Freez for the past 25 years. Previously, he worked for McCaw’s Furniture in Aledo, IL, Gambles in Mediapolis, IA, and the Santa Fe Railroad.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Bowlyou of Aledo, IL; one son, Brent (April) Bowlyou of Milan, IL; two daughters, Stacy (Brian) Clark of Bloomington, IL and Tracy (Henry Allen) Martin of Normal, IL; six grandchildren, Mason Bowlyou, Allie Bowlyou, Megan Bowlyou, Lyndsey Clark, Ashlyn Martin and Anthony Martin; four brothers, Cary (Judy) Bowlyou, Charles (Sue) Bowlyou, Richard (Linda) Bowlyou and Byron (Shelly) Bowlyou; and numerous loving nieces and nephews and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Helen Bowlyou of Lomax, IL.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 3, at Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Aledo. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, at the funeral home, with Pastor Richard Ginther officiating. Burial will be at the Aledo Cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Aledo.
