John Perkins

John W. Perkins, 92, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, October 13, 2009, at Trinity Medical Center West. He was born March 17, 1917, in Birmingham, AL, the son of Ed and Susan Wilkerson McFarland. He married Mildred Thomas on Mar. 4, 1951, at Kenilworth, IL. He retired in 1982 as an auto mechanic having worked for Grant Dane Buick and Standard Oil Co. both in Deerfield, IL. He enjoyed hunting, fishing as was a Domino king. He loved his family the most. He is survived by his wife, Mildred Perkins of Davenport; sons, John W. , Jr., Edward and Gerald Willie both of Davenport; daughters, Della Perkins of Rock Island and Edna M. Perkins of Davenport; twelve grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren; brothers, Eddie Bee McFarland of Chicago and James Lee McFarland of Montgomery, AL.; sisters, Inell McFarland of Atlanta, GA. and Willie M. Woods of Birmingham, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Fannie Mae Adams, brothers Willie and Walter Lee McFarland. © 2009 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
