Leon David Howard, 69, of Rock Island, formerly of Rockwood, Tenn., passed away Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Trinity Pathway Hospice in Bettendorf. He was born Sept. 7, 1940, in Chattanooga, Tenn., the son of Frank and Ollie Siler Howard. He married Wilma Wright in March, 1966, in Rockwood, Tenn. They were later divorced. He had worked as a licensed practical nurse in cardiac rehabilitation therapy at Chamblyn Memorial Hospital and St. Anthony’s Care Center. He was also a minister with Speights Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. He enjoyed reading and was an avid collector of hot wheel cars, beanie babies, angels and owls. Those left to honor his memory include his children, Lisa (Ricky) Trice of Rock Island, Christopher Howard of Rockwood, Tenn., Kimberly (Asmerom) Howard-Medhim, Robin (Abdulaziz) Howard Ahmadin, Jamie (Anthony) Nayou, Takkieas (Atorie) Howard, and Quantaz Fender, all of Rock Island; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; his former wife, Wilma Howard; special friend and caretaker, Orange Harris and close friends Danny, and Cathy Lee.
