Leonard Frank Ringle, 81, of Aledo passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at Genesis Senior Living, Aledo. Graveside services with military honors conducted by the Aledo American Legion Post 121 are 2 p.m. Friday at the Aledo Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Leonard Ringle memorial fund. Bewley Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Aledo, assisted the family.
Mr. Ringle was born November 14, 1932, the son of Frank Forrest and Lucy Ellen Duncan Ringle in Joy, Illinois He married Marilyn June Ahlin on October 17, 1953 in Aledo. She passed away October 4, 2001.
He served in the Army, stationed in Germany, during the Korean war from 1950 - 1953 and the Reserves. He was employed by the Corps of Engineers as a Lock Master retiring after 33 years in December 1988.
Leonard was a member of the New Boston Masonic Lodge and the Aledo American Legion Post 121.
Leonard enjoyed HAM radio and flying R.C. planes. In the past he volunteered as a driver for the Veterans and enjoyed fishing and motorcycles.
Survivors include his sons, Rick (Jodi) Ringle, Spring Grove, IL and Terry (Pennie) Ringle, Aledo; grandchildren, Joshua (Stephanie) Ringle, Eurkea, IL, Joseph (Christen E.) Ringle, Chicago, IL; Nicholas Ringle, Aledo and Amber (Mike) Steele, Orion; great-grandchildren, Audrey and Hudson Ringle and Brylynne Paige Steele.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marilyn; two half-sisters and granddaughter-in-law, Christen Lynn Ringle on January 9, 2012.
