Mary Jane Meyer, 78, died Friday, June 30, 2006, at Unity Hospital. Mrs. Meyer was born Nov. 21, 1927, in Columbus Junction, the daughter of Howard E. and Etta Dircks Bell. She married Reginald M. Meyer Jr. on May 20, 1948. She was proud of her Presbyterian heritage. After graduating from Columbus Junction High School, she attended McKennan Hospital School of Nursing in Sioux Falls, S.D. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was unselfishly considerate in her friendships, steadfastly loyal to her principles and deeply conscientious and sincere. She had the happy faculty of appreciating all that was worthy and loveable in others and was possessed of a nature so full of sunshine that, to her, all of life became beautiful and full of meaning. She will be sorely missed. Survivors include her husband of 58 years; two daughters, Victoria and Kristine; a son, Reginald III; a son-in-law, Walter Conlon; a daughter-in-law, Ramona Meyer; five grandchildren, Emily Davis and husband Joe, Evan Barrett, John Conlon, Michael Conlon and Regina Arnone and husband Michael; sisters, Betty Boulton and husband Bill, Peggy Kulp, Karyn Hills and husband Bill, Paulette Redlinger and husband John and brothers, Boone Bell and wife Marian, Jerry Bell and wife Roberta, George Bell and wife Rose Ann, all of Columbus Junction and Columbus City; sisters-in-law, Alleyne Begey and husband Jack, Karen Luedtke, Jackie Schroeder and husband Larry, all of Muscatine; and brothers-in-law, Jim Ellis and Albert Meyer and wife Norma, all of Muscatine.
