Norma J. Wellington, 93, of Muscatine, went Home on Thursday., March. 15, 2018, at Lutheran Living in Muscatine.


Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Mon., March 19, at the New Hope United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to Noon at the church.

Norma was born Oct. 7, 1924, in Muscatine, the daughter of Ernest A. and Marguerite L. Anderson Schaer. She married Richard W. Beutler and had two sons. He passed away in 1966. She later married Lloyd Wellington on Nov. 22, 1968, in California.


Norma was a hard worker and was employed more than 25 years as Director of Food Service at Lutheran Homes, now Lutheran Living. She was very well liked and had many special friends from work including, Lottie TeStrake, Francis and Jackie Jones


Norma bowled in her early years. She loved to play bingo and do crafts. She especially enjoyed painting her own designs on bird houses and selling them at craft shows. She enjoyed traveling in Colorado, Branson, MO, Lake of the Ozarks, Las Vegas, and Minot, N.D. She was well known for her baking and candy making. She would like to be remembered for her cinnamon rolls, divinity, fudge, peanut brittle, and her raisin filled cookies. Attending church was always important to her. Some of her most special memories were celebrating with family.


Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her sons, Robert Beutler and Stephen (Cyndee) Beutler; step-daughters, Judy Evans, Rhonda Welsch and Lisa (Mike) Fry; one sister, Marge Penniston; step-son Randy Wellington; and several nieces and nephews; several step-grandchildren and many extended family.


She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, brother Ralph Schaer, sisters, Helen Bates and Marilyn Cooney, step-daughters, Connie Mostellar and Sharon Burhop, one niece and one nephew.


Norma will be deeply missed by her family, friends and staff of Lutheran Living.
