Richard E. Vestal, Sr., 70, of Keithsburg, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.
Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, July 13, at First Christian Church in Keithsburg. Burial will be at Oakridge Cemetery, Millersburg. Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Joy is caring for the arrangements.
Visitation will be 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Saturday, July 12, at the church. Memorials may be made to the Richard Vestal Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be left for Richard’s family at www.bewleyfuneralhome.com.
Richard was born January 27, 1944, in Monmouth, IL, the son of Herman and Lucille Hawk Vestal. He married Dixie L. Doss on December 21, 1974, in Keithsburg, IL.
He had served in the US Army. He farmed most of his working life. He had also worked for Crop Production Services and drove semi trucks.He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his grandkids and visiting with family and friends.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Dixie; sons, Richard E. Vestal, Jr. of Aledo, Jamie Vestal of Monmouth, and Rick Vestal of Florida; daughters, Michelle (Todd) Cameron of Keithsburg, Trisha (Richard) Hammond of Muscatine; Marcy (Rusty) Smet of Aledo, Amy (Alfonzo) Bumpas and Angie (Cliff) Caudle of North Carolina; grandchildren, Mason, Taylor, Caleb, Megan, Shaylee, Brylee, Kaiden, Nichole, Aaron, Joseph, Jacob, Halla, Courtney and Ricky; great grandchild, Trinity; brother, Glenn (Cindy) Vestal of Oquawka; sisters, Barbara (Russell) Liston of Biggsville and Shirley (Mike) Noel of Monmouth; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Connie Vestal, and one nephew.
