Rodney Lyle Stegall, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, at the age of 60, in Joy, Illinois. He was born on Friday, May 15, 1964, in Keosauqua, Iowa, the son of Robert Edgar and Edith Maxine King Stegall. He married Trudy Jo Kenney on Wednesday, December 13, 1995, in Aledo, IL Rodney was a man whose presence brought laughter and warmth to every room he entered.
Rodney was a proud graduate of Westmer High School, class of 1982. His dedication and work ethic were evident in his career as a truck driver, a profession he excelled in for over four decades. Most recently, he was a valued team member at Hull Enterprises, where his reliability and expertise were greatly appreciated by colleagues and clients alike.
Beyond his professional life, Rodney was involved in his community. He was a past member of the Patriot Guard and the Camping Club, where he shared his love for the open road and the great outdoors. His passion for motorcycling was well-known, and he could often be found riding with a contagious sense of freedom and joy.
Rodney's calm demeanor and great sense of humor were his trademarks. He was the kind of person who could find the humor in any situation, and his kindness was felt by everyone he met. His ability to make others laugh was only matched by his generous spirit and the love he had for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Trudy, with whom he shared countless cherished moments and whom he loved to playfully torment. His legacy continues through his sons, Ashley (Missy) Wade of New Boston, IL, William Wade of Aledo, IL, and David (Haylie) Stegall of Aledo, IL. Rodney's grandchildren, Briley Barr, Domonic Wade, and Wyatt Wade, will miss their grandfather's humor and gentle guidance.
Rodney was a beloved brother to Danny (Kathy) Stegall of Coal Valley, IL, Marlin Stegall of Aledo, IL, and Hewitt Stegall of Monmouth, IL. His sister, Thelma (James) Rankin, will fondly remember the special bond they shared. He was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Addalia Wade, and his daughter-in-law Jessica Wade.
Rodney's life was a testament to the joy of simple pleasures and the importance of family. He was a man who knew the value of a good joke, the thrill of a motorcycle ride, and the warmth of a family gathering. His funny and kind nature will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
As we say goodbye to Rodney Lyle Stegall, we celebrate a life lived with laughter, love, and a generous heart. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to cherish every moment, to love deeply, and to find joy in the journey. Rodney's spirit will forever ride on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Rodney will be honored and remembered during a celebration of his life from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 16th at the Fire Station in Joy, IL.
