Ruth Arlene (Sinkler) Willits Coutant, 98, of Muscatine, passed away Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at Lutheran Homes. Funeral services will be Noon Thurs., Jan. 31, at New Hope United Methodist Church. Private burial will be in Muscatine Memorial Park. Visitation will be 10AM until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Homes. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.lifetributeservices.com . She was born Oct. 21, 1914, in Muscatine, the daughter of William and Fannie Bates Sinkler. She lived in Muscatine most of her life. She married C. Dale Willits on Oct. 28, 1944. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1969. They had two sons, James and Larry. She married William Coutant on Feb. 14, 1975. He passed away Jun. 7, 1982. She worked for First National Bank of Muscatine for fifteen years and retired in 1975. She was a volunteer for the Muscatine Hospital Auxiliary and “Life Line” for nine years. She was a member of the Eagles and Moose Lodge, with degrees in the College of Regents and Academy of Friendship. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and was Sunday School Superintendent for five years. Ruth loved quilting, playing games, and spending time with the family. She loved to watch the Chicago Cubs baseball in hopes of a World Series win; and Hawkeye basketball. She traveled the world in her earlier years. Survivors include sons, Jim Willits and wife Jan of Atlanta, GA, and Larry Willits and wife Kathy of Muscatine; step-son, Bobby Willits of Bettendorf and step-daughter, Betty Curtis of Macomb, IL; grandchildren, Christy Jenkins, Jennifer Wierda, Ryan Willits, Dale Willits, and Vicki Baltzell; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Tyler Sanders, Allison Church, Sydney, Olivia, Carson, Katie and Alyssa Willits, Emily Lake and Alexandra Baltzell. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, one sister and one step-daughter, Bonnie Dierdorf.
