Ruth F. Squires, 79, of Joy, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at home.
No public services are planned. Cremation rites were facilitated by Bewley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Aledo.

Ruth was born July 27, 1938, in Richwoods, Ark., the daughter of Isaac Ray and Alta Fay Moore Whitmire. She had worked as a farm hand and and equipment operator.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her sons, Dennis (Michelle) Prater of Groveland, IL and David (Peggy Pace) Prater of Muscatine, IA; daughters, Sheila Thomas, Judy Prater and Alta Harville all of Joy, IL; seventeen grandchildren; forty-three great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; brothers, Harold Whitmire, Kenneth Whitmire and Jerry Whitmire; sisters, Juanita King, Marie Robins, Loretta Croom, Nancy Earl, Barb Eagan and Pam Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Wanda Bacon; son, Robert Dean Squires and a brother, Eldon Whitmire.
