Sean E. Dale, 54, of New Boston, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at MercyOne Genesis Davenport Medical Center.

Sean was born on January 25, 1972, in Monmouth, Illinois, the son of Vernon G. Dale and Helen L. (Downey) Dale. He attended Westmer School and went on to build a life marked by hard work, independence, and a straightforward way of seeing the world.

For many years, Sean worked as a semi-truck driver, a career well suited to his strong work ethic and love of the open road. Most recently, he was employed by Secor. In his free time, Sean enjoyed fishing, riding his Harley-Davidson, and spending time with his beloved dog, Loki, who was a constant and loyal companion.

Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his sons, Eli Askew and Bryan Askew, both of Aledo, and Lance Dale (Rikki) of Muscatine; his daughter, Riley Dale of Aledo; his grandchildren, Seth Dale, Landon Dale, and Dawson Gilbert; and his sisters, Wanda Hansen and Ginger Dale, both of New Boston.

Sean was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Helen Dale, one sister, Vicki Neil, three brothers, Mike Dale, Tom Dale, and Pat Dale and by one son, Tyler Gilbert.

A private family burial and celebration of Sean's life will be held at a later date.

Sean lived by his own rules and spoke his truth plainly, often reminding those around him:
"I'm the person who will tell you like it is and not what you want to hear."
