Tyler James Gilbert left this world far too soon on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the age of 32, in his hometown of Aledo, Illinois. Born on Saturday, May 2, 1992, in Aledo, to Sean Dale and Teresa Gilbert, Tyler was a beacon of light and joy to those who knew him. His sudden passing due to an unexpected illness has left a void in the hearts of many.
Tyler was a devoted father to his son, Dawson James Gilbert of Keithsburg, IL. He cherished every moment spent with Dawson. Tyler's love and legacy will live on through his son. He was a beloved son to his mother, Teresa Gilbert, and his father, Sean Dale. His presence as a brother was a source of strength and camaraderie to Justin (and partner Raven Turner) Gilbert of Galesburg, IL, Lance Dale of New Boston, IL, and Brian and Eli Askew both of Aledo, IL, as well as his sisters Shawna Gilbert and Riley Dale, also of Aledo, IL. Tyler was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms.
A proud graduate of Mercer County High School, Tyler's work ethic and leadership were evident early on. He carried these traits into his professional life, where he excelled as a Leadman in the Carton Department at XPAC- Export Packaging Company. His colleagues respected him for his dedication and his ability to inspire teamwork and productivity.
Tyler's passions extended beyond the walls of his workplace. He was an outdoorsman who found peace and solace in the simplicity of nature. Deer hunting and fishing were not just hobbies for Tyler; they were activities that allowed him to connect with the world around him and to share those experiences with his family and friends. His love for the outdoors was only surpassed by the love he had for his family, with whom he spent time creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Described by those who knew him as passionate and courageous, Tyler approached life with a fervor that was contagious. His enthusiasm for his interests and his unwavering courage in the face of life’s challenges were qualities that defined him. Tyler's zest for life and his ability to face each day with a smile will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Tyler's journey on earth was a testament to the power of living with an open heart. His impact on the lives he touched was profound, and his spirit will continue to inspire those he left behind.
