Vernon Millard Paulson, 93, of Muscaitne, formerly of Harmony, Minn., Bull Shoals, Ark., Decorah, Ia., and Hampton, Ia., died Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at the Muscatine Care Center, Muscatine, Iowa. He was born March 25, 1912, at Whalen, Minnesota, the son of Hans Jacob and Sophia Kolstud Paulson. He married Ellen L. Pickett at Preston, Minnesota. He graduated high school in Lanesboro, Minnesota. He was a long time member of the Kiwanis Club and served as Secretary and District Vice President. He learned the dry cleaning business at a young age and eventually owned his own business in Hampton, Iowa. While in Hampton, he was also active in Boy Scouts and began the Little League and Babe Ruth baseball teams for youth. In 1966, he was elected County Recorder in Franklin County. He held that position until he retired. He loved to play golf and achieved two holes-in-one. He was an active member of the Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Janice Stull and husband Dale of Stillwater, Minn. and Muriel "Pete" Weatherly of Muscatine; two sons, Robert Paulson of Des Moines, Ia. and H. Jerry Paulson of wife Brenda of Sheridan, Wyoming; seven grandchildren, Karen Lombardi, Mark Weatherly, Debbie Stull Erickson, Susan Stull Carr, Dawn Cook, Robert Paulson, and Eric Paulson; thirteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ann Ostrem of Northfield, Minn.
