Vida O. Burns, 101, of Muscatine, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2008, at the Muscatine Care Center, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Burns was born Dec. 21, 1906, in rural Letts, the daughter of Alva and Clara Munday Edgington. She married Daniel A. Burns on May 29, 1928 in Muscatine. She was the mother of four children, Helen, Dan, Jack and Bonnie. In her working years, she had been an elevator operator at JC Penney’s Department Store in the Mc Colm Building and was a button factory worker. She enjoyed playing board games and was especially lucky at Skipbo. She loved her family and they were her priority. She is lovingly missed by two sons, Wayne Burns and wife Karen and Jack Burns and wife Dorothy; her grandchildren, Diana Strause, Donna Frye, Leon Hill, Yvonne Dennison, Dan Burns, Beverly Beck, Marion Curry, Linda Newcomb, Brian Burns, Kevin Burns, Jenna Burns, Mark Elliott, Bruce Elliott, Dennis Elliott and Rolana Frye; step-grandchildren, Dawn Gerling, John Schreurs and Brian Beck; 35 great-grandchildren; 49 great-great grandchildren and one great-great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, two daughters, Helen Dennison and Bonnie Elliott, three grandchildren, one great-grandson, one brother and three sisters. © 2008 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
