Virgil Wayne Smith, 86, of Muscatine, died Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at Riverbend Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Muscatine. He was born June 25, 1918, in rural Nichols, the son of Everd Michael and Rosa Emma French Smith. He married Louise Lichtenwald Adams at Iowa City. He was a United States Army veteran of WWII. He retired as a supply clerk for Tri-County Plumbing and Electrical Supply. Survivors include his sister, Marjorie Hurlbut and husband Gayle of Muscaitne ; one step-son Michael Adams and wife Gailene of Muscatine; three step-grandchildren Ellis Adams, Andrew Adams and Melissa Cubbage all of Muscatine;and many nieces and nephews, including special nephew Steve Smith; and sisters-in-law Wilma Smith and Marian Smith.
